Notarized translations

Notarized translations are documents translated by a sworn translator (holder of an authorization issued by the Romanian Ministry of Justice) and notarized by the Notary Public.

The notarization of a translated document will:

  • authenticate the signature of the sworn translator who certifies that the translated text is true and correct translation of the original document.

However, the notarization of a translated document does not:

  • prove the truthfulness of statements contained in the document,
  • legalize or validate the document, or
  • by itself protect a person’s rights to his/her artistic creations or inventions.
Public institutions, legal and government bodies may require the notarization of the following translated documents:
  • education: diplomas, certificates, student transcripts, etc.
  • identity: ID card, passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate, etc.
  • vehicles: registration certificate, VRD, invoice, etc.
  • corporate: articles of incorporation, agreements, etc.
  • notarial: power of attorney, affidavit, etc.
  • court documents: citations, decisions, judgements, etc.
  • others: invoices of any type, customs papers, etc.
